BASIC CHARACTER SURVEY

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

6'4"-ish, lean and toned. Slightly broad shoulders with some measure of muscle mass, but not exactly buff. Close enough to a runner's build.

2. How old is he?

20. Looks older.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

Slouches a bit, partly because he's on the taller side and has whacked his head on lower doorframes before. Also to keep himself unobtrusive. Generally keeps his hands stuffed in his pockers, shoulders hunched forward.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

In good health. A few scars here and there, but no disabilities or illnesses.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

Calm, controlled, neither fast nor slow. Very deliberate and efficient, without any wasted movements. Kazama generally moves with a military precision, but this is especially evident in any sort of combat situation, where he tends to be most focused and cautious. However, there's always a lingering tension in his movements, and it's difficult to ever see him relaxed.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?

Average attractiveness. Worsened by the fact that he tends to bundle himself up in very ragged clothes and covers most of his face with his beanie and bandanna.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Slightly dusky and tanned from spending a lot of time outside waiting. Some scarring here and there, but nothing huge.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.

Black-brown, messy, bangs usually sweeping over half his face. Kind of rough, since terrorists usually don't get prime shampoo.

9. What color are his eyes?

Black-brown. Almost always half-lidded in a very sleepy, tired looking stare. Brows usually furrowed.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

Usually described as just "very tall, with a very tired-looking expression," so there you go.

11. What are his chief tension centers?

I NEVER FUCKING KNOW WHAT TENSION CENTERS ARE.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

Ragged and utilitarian. Mostly very scuffed up clothes in dull colors, tough fabrics that can withstand some wear and tear, stuff that's clearly seen better days. Kazama usually seems to wear lots of layers -- thin shirt, sweater, military-style jacket, army slacks, combat boots, bandanna, beanie, fingerless gloves. As little skin showing as possible.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

They're ... funtional, and that's about all Kazama cares about. He doesn't mind them much, and he'd be obviously uncomfortable in anything that isn't strictly functional.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

Free time what free time. But yes, he probably dresses in rather ragged clothes all the time -- most likely just shucks off his jacket and sweater and boots when he can rest.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

I wonder. ;D

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Deep and husky. Not exactly scary, but intimidating enough for someone who isn't used to it.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

Normally, he completely avoids speaking. When he has to, Kazama speaks using as few words as possible. Full sentences (for the most part), but with many words clipped out, no attempts to be polite or beat around the bush. Curt and blunt. Not exactly rude or hostile, but somewhat uninviting.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

None. He just doesn't like talking.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

Japanese, fluent. Probably knows a little English, but would really rather not speak it.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

Nup.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

HA HA HA no, Kazama always needs to think before speaking, since he's never prepared to talk.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

He has a decent enough vocabulary, but will never speak eloquently -- just say whatever gets his meaning across in as few words as possible. Efficiency is far more important to him than grace.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

He's a fairly sharp cookie, though probably not exactly book-smart. Kazama seems to have a lot of technical knowledge about rifles and pistols, as well as being fairly competent when it comes to hacking or disabling electronics. Probably all just stuff that he's been trained in after becoming a terrorist.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

Capable of thinking on his feet, though he'd really rather plan ahead when possible just so he doesn't bump into any unpleasant surprises.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Fairly logical, very practical. Highly suspicious of other people, very rarely trusts them, can be a little bit ruthless towards them if he needs to be. Tends to keep all of his emotions locked down tight.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

Attended a normal public school through to ninth grade, his last year of middle school. After Battle Royale happened, he presumably left school entirely to wander aimlessly for a while, and then was recruited by terrorists to begin his training as a sniper.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

Marksmanship all the way. Kazama is an expert sniper -- probably heavily due to innate talent, as well as some ruthless training. He can snipe off a prisoner held in a high-security holding facility and make a completely clean getaway, as well as being able to snipe off numerous targets quickly and accurately in a skirmish. Knows all the technical details about his rifle, in and out. Also seems pretty competent with a Glock pistol, which he usually carries around.

Although hacking, jamming and programming are Maki's areas of expertise, Kazama also seems to know a decent amount -- at least enough to let him scrape by when he needs to divert attention away from himself. Otherwise, he seems to be a good driver and fairly sharp when it comes to assessing tactical matters.

My headcanon is that he's also good at cooking.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

Very, very heavily introverted. Kazama generally finds it exhausting to be around other people, since he can never relax when he isn't alone. There are a few exceptions, of course, and he can still function excellently as a soldier around other people, but he'd much rather be alone when he isn't needed.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Very even-tempered, enough to be called emotionless -- it's hard to get much of an emotional response of any sort out of Kazama, positive or negative. Generally wears a fairly neutral expression, though the fact that he always looks tired probably makes it come across as more negative. Very driven in general, and hates to be left idle -- Kazama doesn't know what to do with himself if he doesn't have a clear idea of his goals and what he's fighting for. And of course, there's always a rather sickly undercurrent of anger and fear and trauma around him.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Highly tense and suspicious. Kazama prefers to observe strangers for a while before having to interact with them, and when he finally does, it tends to be very quiet and deadpan.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

React in social situations, act in combat situations.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

Depends. Whichever is more practical. But on a very base level, if he were in great danger, he'd be more likely to just freeze up.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

Humor what's that.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

Post-traumatic stress disorder from Battle Royale, for sure. Like most other BR contestants, he never had it dealt with properly, and just learned to live with it for the most part. Also possibly selective mutism, given how much he hates talking.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?

Battle Royale. Common theories go that, after receiving a rifle as his randomized weapon, Kazama spent the entirety of his class' round waiting silently in hiding and sniping off a fair number of students to snag the win. This resulted in his great fear of speaking, as he unconsciously associated making any noise with "being discovered" and "being killed." Battle Royale in general made him a very hardened person, forcing himself to cut off most of his emotions to keep from going insane and turning him into the stoic, deadpan, forboding individual that he is.

14. What does he fear?

Being killed uselessly. Kazama would be able to accept dying if it were for the Wild Seven, but he would hate to die without purpose -- especially given the fact that all of his classmates in BR died so that he could live, and he would hate for all of their lives to be wasted along with his.

Kazama also unconsciously holds a fear of speaking, because he always associates it with being discovered and killed. Though this is a more managable fear, and Kazama can speak if he really needs to, it's a big factor for why he avoids it whenever possible.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?

No personal hopes or aspirations. In the long run, he wants to see the Japanese government crumble, so that no one will ever have to go through Battle Royale again.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

To anyone outside of the Wild Seven -- the fact that he's a mass-murdering terrorist. In general -- anything personal. Kazama prefers to never say anything about himself.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.

They're dead. Killed post-BR so that Kazama could have his identity conveniently changed by the government. Probably had an average, mellow relationship with them pre-BR.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

If he did, they're dead, too.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?

Unknown.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?

The Wild Seven are probably the closest thing he has to a family, since they're the only people he'll associate with. Although it's not exactly clear how much he cares for them on a personal level, he obviously wants very much to protect them and their cause.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

Sakurai Saki would be the closest thing to a best friend he has. He was introduced to Saki when the terrorist organization he was previously associated with had him assigned to train her as a new sniper. Saki followed him up to the mountains to train, along with her teacher from high school pre-BR, Shinjo. A falling-out between Saki and Shinjo led to Kazama having to kick Shinjo off the mountain; following that, Shinjo was taken hostage by the organization to force Saki to perform a dangerous assassination task for them. Kazama took this as the chance to get both himself and Saki away from the organization, which he knew had the tendency of abandoning and killing off any "unhelpful assets."

Saki is probably the only person that Kazama has shown his softer, kinder side to. Though he usually treats her with the same stoic face that he does towards everyone else, he's gone out of his way to apologize for getting her tangled in complicated terrorist business and tried to get her to safety during the Wild Seven's final battle. Though his feelings are probably mostly platonic, it's still obvious that he cares very much for her -- perhaps a bit like an older brother wanting to guard a younger sister.

6. Does he have other close friends?

He seems more familiar with Imakire than the other Wild Seven members, since he worked for Ushijima before they all entered the Wild Seven. Though not exactly close, Kazama at least tolerates Imakire's louder and more talkative personality without balking, and they seem to communicate decently without speaking much.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?

A TERRORIST NEEDS NO FRIENDS.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?

NUP.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?

Single forever.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

HA HA HA.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?

He probably had some innane crush during middle school, but that all ended after Battle Royale. Kazama probably hasn't held any romantic affections towards anyone else since then, and has no desire to.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?

NUP.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?

NO.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?

The Japanese government must die.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?

Kazama's about as sexual as a bag of potatoes. That is, asexual. Close contact of any sort tends to make him incredibly tense, and he's honestly still so deeply entrenched in PTSD that a romantic relationship of any sort would be impossible.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?

Hate. Or rather, Kazama would see absolutely no need for it. Any sort of intimacy with another person would make him incredibly tense and nervous, since he doesn't really trust anyone. Whatever sexual desires he'd had as a student were sharply cut off after BR. (And yes, he's a big fat virgin.)

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

None, none, none.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is his favorite:

1. Color?

TMI SURVEY.

THE CLEAN(ISH) SECTION
Full name: Kazama Souji (風間 総司).

Age: 21.

Birthdate: Unclarified in canon. Assuming January 12, 1980.

Sign: Capricorn.

Height: 6'2" / 188cm.

Weight: 143 lb / 65 kg.

Scars:

Only a few general scrapes and scratches originally, a few from the scuffles and panic of Battle Royale. Aboard the Tranquility, he acquired a deep, jagged scar through the right calf and a deep gouge across his left side from being shot by Moran, and a knife scar down his right forearm courtesy of Brian.

Piercings: None.

Tattoos: None.

Other bodily markings: None.

Build:

Tall and lanky. Kazama's pretty long-limbed and lean, undermined by the fact that he tends to slouch a bit. He's also generally in very good shape -- though he doesn't exactly work out all the time, and he's not particularly buff, he does have something close to a runner's build albeit with slightly less definition. Fairly wide shoulders and sinewy limbs. Build-wise, he's actually pretty attractive, though he tends to hide it all beneath layers and layers of shitty, ratty old clothes.

Residence:

Back in Japan, Kazama didn't really have much of a permanent home. Though he presumably stayed with his former group's HQ before joining the Dawn of Asia, once he did join the Dawn of Asia, Kazama became something of a drifter. Half his time was spent moving from place to place so that he could go on missions quickly, and many a night was spent sleeping in his car parked in some dark little corner while he waited for a new mission assignment. What scant little time he did spend at the Dawn of Asia HQ, he stayed in whatever empty room was available, probably sleeping on like a shitty mattress laid on the floor. Once the Wild Seven moved to Senkanjima, Kazama ended up having a similar arrangement there -- most of his time spent off on mission, with a bit of time spent at the Senkanjima base, staying in an empty room. He didn't really have a room of his own, instead just using one whatever space was empty; the few belongings he did have, he either kept in his car or stowed away in a corner of the room he was in.

Aboard the Tranquility, Kazama actually has some semblance of a stable living arrangement -- which he has decidedly odd feelings about. Though he stayed in his assigned cabin for a while, he quickly decided that the caged-in, claustrophic environment was awful and insteady started hobo-ing it out in the Oxygen Gardens. Ned was then kind enough to give him permission to stay at Mattie's old camp, so that's where Kazama's been sleeping a lot as of late. Though he still keeps a few belongings in his old cabin, it's mostly hilariously empty, as if no one's ever lived there.

Occupation:

Terrorist sniper. For realsies. Pathetically enough, Kazama never attended high school or college, and he only graduated from middle school on a technicality (after having to repeat 9th grade). He was recruited into the terrorist business when he was fifteen, almost sixteen, and that's pretty much the only lifestyle he's ever known. He was trained as a sniper from the start, and started doing fieldwork as a backup marksman when he was sixteen, started doing solo missions when he was seventeen.

Aboard the Tranquility, Kazama is a member of the security team and has been taking lots of shifts on security to keep his mind off things -- like his collar.

Drinking?

Nope. Kazama's always been fairly busy being sent out on missions and such, which doesn't exactly leave him a lot of time to sit around drinking. As a result, he's never really done any serious drinking other than a beer or two snuck behind the teacher's backs when he was still in middle school.

Smoking?

Nope.

Other daily habits:

Not exactly a daily habit, but Kazama doesn't sleep very much. Usually only three or four hours a day, six hours on a good night. Part of this is because he used to have horrendous nightmares and night terrors after Battle Royale, and took to sleeping in very short spans in order to avoid the nightmares as much as possible. By now, it's mostly habit, though. He'll sleep in short bursts, sitting in a corner or hiding out somewhere quiet and secluded, and is usually up by stupid hours of dawn.

Hair:

Styling, what's styling. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Though Kazama's pretty clean, he doesn't exactly take any time to present himself nicely. He usualy just combs through his hair roughly with his fingers after showering, and leaves it sort of flopping all over his face, smushed down with his shitty old beanie. He also doesn't exactly trust many people to come near his neck with scissors, so he very rarely cuts it -- his hair's left kinda longish, trailing down to the nape of his neck, with messy bangs flopped a bit over his face.

Clothes:

Nice clothes are hard to get when you're living life on the run, man. Kazama mostly wears military surplus clothes and other heavy-duty garments that can take a lot of wear-and-tear. There's also the fact that Senkanjima lacks any sort of insulation or heating, which means it gets really damned cold at night, and the nights when Kazama camps out in his car can also get pretty chilly -- as a result, he tends to wear lots of layers and dress pretty warmly. His standard outfit consists of a long-sleeved T-shirt, a light hoodie, a longish jacket, army slacks and army boots. Accessories include fingerless leather gloves, a rather ragged old beanie, a supply pack at his belt, a red bandanna with the Wild Seven emblem on it tied around his neck -- and, as of late, a Battle Royale collar latched around his throat. :')

Scent:

No real scent? He usually smells like soap for a while after he's showered, but otherwise tends to smell a bit like gunpowder. Kazama doesn't wear cologne or aftershave, so he doesn't really smell nice or anything, unfortunately.

Other notable physical details:

Kazama generally looks very, very tired -- practically permanent dark circles beneath his eyes, a very tired gaze, movements efficient and not wasting any more energy than necessary. Also, his hair's gotten quite long as of late and he really really needs a haircut. Other than that, he's pretty tall for an Asian dude.

Spoken language(s):

Japanese, fluently. A little bit of broken English, heavily accented.

Voice:

He doesn't speak very often, but I always imagine his voice isn't as imposing as one would expect from his appearances. Kazama's still pretty young, in the long run of things, and though his voice is a little husky, it's neither deep nor gravelly. I imagine it sounds a bit like this, albeit a little bit hoarser.

THE DIRTY(ISH) SECTION
Cup size/Penis size:

Heh. Average, at 5 and a half inches-ish.

Body Hair:

Kazama naturally doesn't have that much body hair, especially at his chest. Though he generally keeps his face shaven clean, he doesn't shave anything else.

Size preference:

Well, given he's never really gotten so far as holding a person's hand, much less fucking anyone, Kazama doesn't have any real preferences here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ However, I imagine he's fancied a girl or two before, and he's definitely very fond of Saki -- I can't imagine he'd be very picky, but he'd mostly like girl who are quite average in terms of voluptuousness, preferrably shorter than him. He's never really fancied a fellow before, but I can't imagine he'd be very discriminating in that department, either.

Sexual preference:

Generally, Kazama's pretty much asexual. Because he abhors physical contact, it's pretty unlikely he'd enjoy any sort of sexual activity with anyone. Platonically speaking though, he's probably around a 2 on the Kinsey scale. Though he defaults towards being attracted to girls, I can't imagine he'd place gender above personality if he ever does come to have feelings towards anyone.

Best sexual experience:

Maybe this was a stupid moom to fill out for Kazama oh man

Worst sexual experience:

Given he's a big fat virgin yeah

Partner(s):

This is stupid

How often do they have sex?

Preferred method of sex:

Favorite position?

Underwear:

Black boxer-briefs. ;D

Number one fantasy:

Sensitive areas:

He's quite careful and skilled with his hands, and the nape of his neck is quite sensitive.

No-no places/triggers:

Favorite place to have sex:

Something they want to try but haven't before:

Favorite kinks/sex acts:

Sleep naked or in pajamas?

Fully clothed, thank you very much. He'll shuck off his jacket, usually, but he otherwise sleeps clothed because who knows when you might be woken up and have to get moving right away.

Masturbation:

Toys y/n?

Turn-ons:

What was their first time like?

After-sex habits:

Anything else?
